Eligibility Requirements for State-owned Academic Institutions and Technical or Vocational Institutes

Nationality and Residency

– Applicants must be citizens or legal residents of an African country.

Standard of Education

– Applicants must have completed (or be in the process of completing) secondary school or an equivalent program.

High Academic Performance

– A minimum academic performance standard (e.g., a certain GPA, grade percentage, or standardized exam score) is required. This will vary depending on the program’s level (e.g., high school to university or vocational training).

– Applicants must be accepted into an accredited academic institution or technical school in Africa.

Award Package for Awardees in Academic Institutions

– One laptop at the beginning of the first academic year.

– Tuition guarantee for three years contingent on maintaining a GPA of 3.0 each academic year until graduation.

  • At the end of each academic year, the awardee must submit a copy of that year’s transcript which reflects a minimum GPA of 3.0. Failure to submit each year’s transcript by October 5, will result in the award being withdrawn for the subsequent academic year.
Award Package for Awardees in Technical or Vocational Institutes

– TSENA will collaborate with the Vocational Institute to select students and will ensure that all tuition costs are met and tool kits are purchased for each student.

  • At the end of each academic year, TSENA will collaborate with each Vocational Institute to determine whether the awardee has demonstrated exceptional skill development and whether their tuition costs should be covered by TSENA in the subsequent year.
